It is a change to learn and successfully apply LEAN principles and techniques to your career and company. Amazon Expanding to Store Front (again)

  • In NYC Amazon is expanding to have a store front, housing 4-star (“digital price tag”) products and appliances for sale. Retail Dive reports it as well. Daphne Howland from reports “But it remains to be seen whether these successful online maneuvers will translate to brick and mortar, or whether Amazon is able to grasp how stores connect with their customers. According to CEO and Founder of Retail Prophet Doug Stephens, Amazon’s website isn’t all that fun to shop.” This is more evidence our clients need to plan and change strategically to accommodate all of the market changes, including the eCommerce one to store front or vice versa.

What else is Amazon disrupting? Several takeaways and thoughts:

  • While two day shipping has become the norm, it’s believed that the norm will become one day to even just a couple of hours. As Amazon builds more fulfillment centers and even actual brick and mortar stores, other businesses are going to have to adapt. There are other companies are trying to help smaller retailers compete with Amazon; alternative for other clients. InvestorHub says, “Amazon’s nominal competitor in online retail, Walmart, also offers a marketplace for third parties to sell their goods; the big difference is, it doesn’t assist them with fulfillment — and forbids them from using Amazon’s fulfillment services. (It’s not uncommon for items purchased on eBay or Google Express to arrive in Amazon boxes.)

As of September 8, 2020, Crimson & Co (formerly The Progress Group/TPG) has rebranded as Argon & Co following the successful merger with Argon Consulting in April 2018.
